Tshidi Manye (Rafiki), Dashaun Young (Simba) and Kissy Simmons (Nala) were among the 11 members of the Broadway company to perform songs like "One by One," "Shadowland," "Can You Feel the Love Tonight," and "Circle of Life." Here are some photos from the Washington, D.C. event:
I was soooo honored to be asked to perform for this event and to have the opportunity to tour the East and West Wings of the White House. There are some pictures I don't have access to that were taken of me and the President during the day when we were rehearsing. It was a day I will never forget!
---My BROADWAY debut - June 24, 2008
Greetings,As you know, I’ve been touring with Disney’s “ The Lion King” since 2006. The tour I was on closed on March 3rd. I’ve been enjoying my time back home in Atlanta, working on music and acting. As I was prepping for my welcome back party this Wednesday, I got a phone call that made my dreams come true…I MADE IT TO BROADWAY!!!
Ever since I was little, all I ever wanted to do was sing and act. My mother Valerie took me to see all kinds of shows and put me in dance classes. Never forced…I loved every minute of it. I was always an “artistic type”…maybe because I’m a Sagittarius…maybe because I grew up an only child for 15 years and constantly talked to myself…who knows. LOLTo make a long story short, I’ve re-joined my “Lion King” family in New York City on Broadway. I’m filling in for a cast member on medical leave. Though this is a temporary arrangement…I’m proud to say I MADE IT! If I died tomorrow, please know that I lived a FULL life and fought long and hard for my dreams. FREE SHOW IN ATLANTA THIS WEDNESDAY, June 25thVisit
http://www.chocolatesuperstar.com/ for details if you forgot…Do me a favor…take two minutes out of your busy schedule today and think about your dreams. What was it that you said you ALWAYS wanted to do? Are you close to doing it? Never let your FEAR stop you. Stop listening to those folks who say you can’t do it, because they speak from their own FEAR. Regardless of what ANYBODY says, dreams DO come true.Until next time…Stay inspired,Christine Horn

---Greetings from Cleveland! - September 14, 2007
I just wanted to drop you a quick line to let you know what’s new in my world. As you probably know by now, I’ve taken a break from being the R&B Alternative to perform with the Cheetah National Tour of Disney’s THE LION KING. I was cast as a singer in the ensemble and I am also an understudy for the lead role of Nala and Sarabi as well. I’ve been on the road since last July and have been having a blast!THE GOOD NEWSI was just offered to actually play the lead role of NALA for 7 weeks for the Gazelle National Tour for their current leads leave of absence! This is a major deal for me and I am so excited and honored to have been chosen. Aside from it being a great resume builder, I get to have a lot more time to play with the character and meet a totally different cast! After my 7 weeks, I will return to my original duties with the Cheetah Tour. The Gazelle Tour has been doing more of the East Coast dates that you’ve probably heard about (Florida, Charlotte and is scheduled to come to Atlanta in 2008.)In case you are in the city or have family or friends planning on coming to the show, here is my performance schedule:Memphis, TN – September 13 – 16thDallas, TX – September 18 – October 22ndMinneapolis, MN – October 23 – 28thRECORDING NEWSI have been coming home to Atlanta periodically and have finally begun production on the next two albums. It feels so great to be back in the studio and working my writing muscle again! I can’t wait until I can give you a sample of what’s to come.
Until next time…

---My "Lion King" Journey (Vol.1) - December 5, 2006
View pictures from my journey:
http://www.christinehorn.photosite.com/Greetings from Los Angeles!Hey,I know it’s been a while since I’ve written. Things have been pretty crazy since I left Atlanta, Georgia to perform in THE LION KING.I’ve had the privilege to meet some very cool people and travel to some interesting cities.I guess the best way to explain would be to break it down city by city…so here goes…Houston, TexasThis was my first stop. I arrived July 5, 2006 to begin rehearsals. The weather was hot (which I liked) and I stayed downtown at the Marriott Hotel. I had a weeks’ notice to get to Houston. I had to drop everything for this wonderful opportunity. It’s the actor’s life I guess. I rehearsed about 5-6 days a week and watched the show almost every night. I had never seen THE LION KING until I watched their dress rehearsal. I was totally blown away. I must admit that I was a little intimidated as well. I did however realize how lucky I was to be a part of such a wonderful production. I was very homesick because I never saw anyone since I was just in rehearsals. There was one other dancer in rehearsals with me. I went to a variety of clubs alone and stayed in my hotel room most of the time. Cooking became my favorite hobby and closes companion.Tucson, Arizona2nd stop…we took the smallest plane ever to get to this town! I mean…it was small! Arizona is nice. The weather was very hot…but it was a dry heat. I performed for the first time in this city. I would have went on sooner, but all of my costumes had to be made from scratch. While I was in Houston, I was flown to New York and got to visit several costumes shops to have fittings. My roommate and I stayed in a condo that was in a retirement community. It was nice and quiet. The neighbors always greeted us and word got around quick that we were apart of THE LION KING. It got to the point that our neighbors starting popping up unannounced and leaving gifts on our doorstep. It was cute…a little freaky, but cute. It was weird not being surrounded by grass, but my cactus plants, huge mountains and LOTS of creatures. There was one bar/club that African-Americans went to. We had a game where we would count them in Tucson since there were so few. We managed to have fun though. I spent my days in rehearsal for Nala and my nights performing 8 shows.Denver, Colorado3rd stop…Can you say cold? Can you say hot? The weather here reminded me of Atlanta….hot one minute, cold the next. Sunny one day, snow the next. Denver was actually a very nice city. Lots of people and very metropolitan. I made it to the mountains once when we had out Halloween party. It was beautiful. I spent my days rehearsing for Sarabi and my nights performing. I stayed at the Marriott Hotel in walking distance to the theatre. We performed at the Buell Center, which housed 8 theatres in one building. There was a decent nightlife scene and tons of dining. I stayed near the 16th Street Mall which is blocks and blocks of stores outside. The altitude was hard to adjust to…I’m not sure if any of us adjusted. We had oxygen tanks backstage for emergencies. It was very hard to breathe and I woke up every morning with the driest throat on earth! Los Angeles, California4th stop…ahhh…smell that smog! LOL. I couldn’t wait to get to Los Angeles and see the palm trees and feel the warm weather. So far…it hasn’t been that warm. I’m finally done with rehearsals for the extra roles that I cover. We have ensemble rehearsals from time to time…but nothing as major as when I first started. We’re performing at the Pantages Theatre, which is right on Hollywood Boulevard. I’m staying in an apartment in Burbank near Universal City, NBC and the Warner Bros. lots. We had a great opening night party. The nightlife is of course great…if you can get in. If you’re not famous…it ain’t happening! We manage to have fun anyway. It was hard not spending Thanksgiving with my family and friends, but I managed. My birthday is coming up (12/13)…not sure what I’m doing yet…I won’t be going home for Christmas or New Years either…so that should be interesting. That’s life on the road for you…you’ve got to sacrifice some things to do what you love!I hope I didn’t bore you…please check out all of my pics on my photo website:
http://www.chistinehorn.photosite.com/I hope life is treating you well. Remember to follow your dreams, no matter how crazy they seem to other people. Have faith in your self and your talent and let the rest happen!
---The Lion King - July 6, 2006
I recently got some very exciting news. I have just been added to the Cheetah Company National Tour of Disney's "THE LION KING!" I left for Houston, Texas yesterday and will be starting rehearsals in a few days. Until then, I will just be watching the show each chance I get.For all of my frustrated actors out there....I was totally shocked that I got this call because I auditioned for THE LION KING in Atlanta about 3 years ago and never heard anything back from them. Then about 3 months ago, DISNEY called my agent and I flew to New York to auditon for one of the tours. I got back home and was told that I did not get the part...but I was next in line if the girl they offered it to turned it down.So I put it out of my mind (as we performers tend to do so we don't go crazy thinking about every audition) then all of a sudden a week and a half ago...I get a call saying they wanted me...and I had to be ready to leave on July 5th.So...every Casting Director isn't lying when they tell you that they're going to keep your headshot on file. It took three years...but I'm HERE!I'll post my touring cities for the next year on my EVENTS page...maybe if you're nearby, you can check us out!By the way...I've been cast in the ensemble as a singer and I also understudy the female leads, NALA and SARABI.You can read my Lion King blog on:
